Chemical Peels

When a chemical peel (glycolic acid, TCA or other) is used on the skin, it stimulates skin growth and improves its texture. It does this by exfoliating some of its layers. Through this process, changes known as photoaging are reversed or ameliorated. Cell renewal is increased, circulation improved, and collagen rebuilt in the dermis. Skin texture, colour and tone are improved and fine lines diminished.

What your chemical peel will involve

When applied to the skin, chemical peels cause a degree of burning. The sensation is similar to sunburn. How much burning occurs will depend on your skin and the depth of treatment required.
In the days following treatment, your skin will begin to peel giving a fresh, more youthful appearance.

The procedure takes between 30 minutes and an hour. For certain peels, some skin preparation may be required. For deeper peels, several applications are required over a period of several weeks.
Depending on the type of peel, age spots and other types of hyperpigmentation are reduced.
